LOUISIANA SHOPPING TRAIL WINS 2018 SASI AWARD

New Orleans, LA — September 2018 — The Louisiana Shopping Trail’s new website won Gold at the ONE Travel Conference in Napa, California last month. The Louisiana Shopping Trail won a SASI (Shop America Salutes Innovation) Award in the Cultural and Heritage Tourism Organization category for their website, which was designed and created by Tomahawk Tourism.

The Louisiana Shopping Trail website highlights local retailers across Louisiana, giving shoppers a sampling of Louisiana’s Culture through retail.  SASI-ONE Awards recognize prominent leaders in the tourism industry for their vision and commitment to developing shopping and cultural tourism.

The Louisiana Shopping Trail came about to diversify shopping and to help small businesses succeed throughout the state of Louisiana. The parent organization, Louisiana Tax Free Shopping, mainly targets International visitors and heavily promotes the larger stores throughout the state. The Louisiana Shopping Trail helped to promote another aspect of the state's culture that often gets overlooked, and with the updated website, locals and visitors alike are now able to experience Louisiana's culture through retail.

“This is a chance to promote cultural and local shopping to Louisiana’s out-of-state visitors,” said Steve Windham, Chairman of the Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission. “The shopping trail provides an opportunity for visitors driving through our state to get off the highway and discover Louisiana’s unique retail experiences.”

The trails offer something for all visitors, from antique or boutique shopping to viewing our culture through locally hand-crafted goods, tasting and sharing culinary delights or gearing up for an outdoor adventure.
