The Duke of Marlborough

case study

The Duke of Marlborough is an iconic hotel and restaurant in the Bay of Islands, first opened in 1827. Our team loved working with such a beautiful venue on this project, which included website redesign, content strategy, SEO and Google Adwords.

The Challenge

The old website had become out dated and didn’t reflect the high standard of luxury accommodation and dining offered by The Duke. There was a lack of content and the website was unresponsive, which also meant it wasn’t well optimised for search engines.

The Solution

The new design has a luxury feel and features large imagery, showing off the stunning location of the hotel and its beautifully presented interior. There is plenty of information and users are able to easily book a table at the restaurant or accommodation at the hotel, or enquire about wedding or event venue hire.

The responsive design means the website is effective across all devices, which has resulted in a vast increase of mobile traffic. Search engine optimisation has also doubled The Duke’s organic search traffic. The blog allows The Duke to create fresh content to post on their social media channels – we even got them started by contributing the first two articles.

Lastly, Google Adwords campaigns have helped create further awareness of The Duke’s wedding and function hire, leading to enquiries.
